The following weather information will give you a general idea about the weather conditions.   From the aerial photographs you can see that our latitude is about 42 degrees which is about  the same as the Northern Border of California.  As a general  rule, the weather is warmer, less rain, and in general better than Seattle.    I have spent time in Seattle, San Francisco, and Puerto Montt.  I prefer Puerto Montt, weather-wise and other-wise.

Note that the days with rain (in Puerto Montt) specifies rain of .1 mm, while the other locations require 1 mm of rain before they count it a “rainy day.”   The .1mm is not enough to even get you damp, much less wet.

The large body of water around us keeps the temperature at a fairly nice level.  Puerto Montt appears to be colder in  the winter time than where we are located because of this big body of water on 3 sides of our property.

As far as a place to live, you cannot beat Region 10 in Chile; there are beautiful natural views in every direction, lots of wild life, good fishing, a low population density, and virtually no crime.  The Southern part is much too cold, but our location is “just right.”  Sylvester Stallone, President Bush, and other dignitaries come here to go fishing.  We will live within bicycle distance to the same type of fishing without leaving our own private property.

We will have a truly secure environment in which to live.  Several young couples have asked us if this will be a good place to raise their kids.  The answer is “There is none better.”  I am bringing my 17 year old daughter.  She is looking forward to working for our “Dude Ranch” teaching kids, from around the world, trail riding on horse-back, herding cattle, barrel racing in the Rodeo arena, martial arts, and swimming in our heated, pool.  We are going to be a very active community with residents from around the world.

Concerning the weather conditions.  We have been there 3 times, 2 times in Winter and 1 time in Summer, or near Summer.  We had some light rain on 2 days of each trip, but not enough to stop us from visiting the land sites for 10 hours each day.  Nigh time required a relatively heavy coat during the winter.  Daytime required a light coat.  Most all coats you buy in Chile are relatively rain resistant, so we wore the same coats in the light rain.  During the 35 days we were in Chile, we never had a day we could not go out outside for 10 hours and walk or ride horses around the various pieces of property.  If you must have South Florida weather, this land does not have it, but if you like San Francisco or Seattle weather, you will love it.  It is actually better weather than either of the two USA cities because this specific location in Chile does not get the strong winds we get on our West Coast.  Go farther South in Chile and it is very cold and very windy.  Go North and you have a hot, barren desert.  But the weather in this location is “just right” at least for us.  If we drive up to the top of our mountains, in the winter time, we can have snow ball fights and just enjoy the view, looking West over the adjacent island and the Pacific Ocean.  Note that the “Rainy Days” quoted below for this location in Chile is for any rain more than 0.1mm.   San Francisco was quoted for any rain above 1 mm.  One mm of rain is relatively little, but 0.1 mm is very little precipitation.djfj

Our Chile land receives about 3 times the amount of rain I receive at my present home here in Sarasota, which is great as far as I am concerned.
